Lois Seiler After graduating from Algoma
High School, Lois attended a one-year course at Northwest Institute of
Medical Technology in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Upon completion, she was
licensed as a laboratory technician and was initially employed for one year
at Lakeland Hospital in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. When a similar position became
available at Door County Memorial Hospital in Sturgeon Bay, Lois decided to
return to the area where she had grown up in northeastern Wisconsin. It did
not take her long to decide that this was where she enjoyed living and made
it her home. Lois married E. B. (Pete) Mickelson on 27 December 1956 in
Sturgeon Bay. Pete was also employed in the health care field and eventually
became the administrator at Door County Memorial. Lois worked as a
laboratory technician at Memorial for a number of years, but also worked for
physicians in their offices as well as managing a free standing clinic for
five years. After a long illness, Pete died in 1998 and Lois was left alone
to begin a new career.
