John Hucek

After graduation, I entered the U.S. Air Force in September. I was stationed at San Antonio Air Force Base, Texas, Montgomery, Alabama, Grand Forks, North Dakota, Goose Bay, Labador, Canada, and Homestead Air Force Base, Florida. I got married on May 17, 1968. In December, 1968, I retired from the Air Force with a medical discharge because of a fractured neck with paralysis. I spent two years in rehabilitation and then started to work for A&P Grocery Store. From 1970 to 1975 I attended Miami-Dade Jr. College part-time and received an Associate Degree in Architecture. Plans for architecture failed, so I became a Manager Trainee with A&P Grocery Store. From 1975 to 1985 I worked with Grand Union Supermarkets as a General Store Manager. Grand Union went out of business, so I then worked for an independent grocery store till 1992. Hurricane Andrew took everything I had: car, home, and belongings. I then moved to Vero Beach in 1993 and worked for Kmart till 1997. Since 1997 I have worked for the LA Dodgers. Plans are to retire a second time and enjoy grandchildren and future great grandchildren.
