William Schley

After graduation, I went to work for the railroad in Green Bay for the summer. In the fall of 1964, I went to school at Southeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay for Auto Mechanics. After that, I worked in Seymour, Wisconsin, for three years on my apprenticeship for Auto Mechanics. In December of 1968, I was drafted into the U.S. Army for two years. Upon my discharge from the Army, I returned to school at Northeast Wisconsin Technical School in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, for Diesel Mechanic. After Diesel School, I started working at Sturgeon Bay Yacht Harbor in 1971 as a mechanic. In 1972 I was involved in a motorcycle accident which left my left leg in pretty bad shape. After recuperation, I returned to Sturgeon Bay Yacht Harbor. In 1988 I became a mechanical supervisor there. In 1999 I had my left leg amputated below the knee and was fit with a prosthesis. I am doing fine with it. I am till at Sturgeon Bay Yacht Harbor. Plans are to retire in four years, maybe.
