After graduation, 1 farmed with my father. Two years later, 1 became a partner in my father's dairy operation. On July 29, 1971, I met my wife, Eve, through my aunt and uncle. On February 24, 1973, we were married. In May of 1973, my father died. Later that year, we purchased the farm. In 1974, we had our first child, a son, with five daughters to follow. The last one was born in 1 984. In 1 990, I became saved by the gospel of the grace of God according to I Cor. 15:1-4 and not John 3:16, which is to the nation of Israel and not us, Gentiles. On June 16, 2003, we became a certified organic farm. With most of the children gone from home, we will be down-sizing the number of cattle by a third at the end of this year. We are not looking forward to the golden years. One of our most memorable moments to date has been Easter Sunday, April 19, 1980, when our slurrystore (liquid manure system) backed up into the barn. Our friends, Larry and Lila Schlorf, were kind enough to help us clean up the mess to get the cows out of two feet deep manure.
