Richard Wech

After graduation, Dick worked in the U.S. Plywood for eleven years. He also drove school bus for thirteen years in Algoma. Dick spent two years in the U.S. Marine Corps from February, 1966 to February, 1968. We were married at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, while Dick was in service. In 1976, Dick started at Green Bay Correctional Institution as a Correctional Officer. He relocated to the Columbia Correctional Institution as a sergeant in 1986. Dick worked for the State for twenty seven and a half years. We built two homes in Pardeeville and have been in our retirement home for four years. 2003 was a difficult year. In January, we found out Dick had cancer. Dick spent January through August getting chemotherapy and hoped to get a stem cell transplant. Dick and I were best friends. We were looking forward to spending many good years together, but then cancer took Dick on September 18, 2003. Dick was a great family man, who is missed very much. His two grandchildren, Beth and Mike, remember him as a "hands-on-grandpa". It is hard adjusting to life without Dick.
