Life in a small town was simple and full of fun and our parents taught us well.  We learned at home and at school.  Here is a short list of some of the facts, news and historical events of 1954. Back in 1953, gasoline cost 20 cents a gallon, when you pulled up to the pumps one or two guys came out and checked your oil and your tires and cleaned your window.
